end of month money

remember the money at the end of the month is really only $650 actual raise, everything else we are already getting somewhere else. the only good thing is when they lump it all together, the clothing allowance will now be used in the forumla to figure our overtime rates. alot of people think we are actually getting a percentage rate on 3/31/07. it is current base pay + clothing allowance (875 old + 200 increase =1075) + sled (1100 old + 450 increase = 1550) = new base pay. example: current job rate 47970 + 1075 + 1550 = 50595 new job rate on 3/31/07. to figure 10,15,20, and 25 year rate just add your step. from my calculator to yours, happy math.

inmates are restless

hey watch your backs, the inmates are getting restless. last nite there was a 6 man fight in c yard, 2-4 weapons found. day before 1 fight in messhall, 1 in gym on 3-11, couple days prior assualt at the messhall. don't know why. heard only good things about our responses and team work. stick together and don't let your guard down, we got alot of bugs in gp, so little things may mean alot to them. heard the day messhall thing was over a pencil?

BRUCE,
I guess you have not read the ARBITRATION AWARD! FOR THAT MATTER YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE NOT EVEN KEPT UP WITH THE NEWS. Our hopes is now that HEVASI is gone we can get this issue corrected. IT IS CERTAINELY NOT FOR A LACK OF TRYING. NO CHESS BEING PLAYED HERE!
Thanks L. Flanagan Jr.

Once again the members are being held hostage because of this so called arbitrated decision. Lets face facts. When are we the membership going to have a chance to ratify this contract-that was not arbitrated-but agreed too? The members deserve more than we are currently getting from our elected leadership.
Everything seems to have quited down after recieving back pay award, but the members are not stupid! They are finally starting to see that we were used as pawns in theses negotiations. They are not seeing their tuition reimbursements, they are getting angry and the backlash will fall to you.

Notice how he tries to make it out that I'm the stupid one. Still insisting that its an arbitration award. And those capital letters. I'm not just a stupid member, but a deaf, blind one too!!

INCONVIENCE PAY

Just checked NYSCOPBA's web site. Inconvience pay will not be coming soon! A pay bill must be drafted. This could take a while seeing the legislature is only in session 6 more times this month. Screwed again by our union! Everything is not rosy in Corrections. We have a union that LIES to its membership and everyone falls in line. Show us a little money and everyone rolls over. Wake up people and realize we are being screwed by our own representatives. Not negotiating a new contract, when our old one expires in a month and a half. We pay these people to represent us. I am in contact with an attorney regarding a suit for our monies and and to replace our entire executive team. These people are not representing us. The suit would claim damages for "non-representation". Keep people informed as our union leadership fails to do it. If we could get more people on board these pages-we could show that we have a voice, and that we demand answers. Have you ever taken the time to e-mail any of our representatives at NYSCOPBA. You will rarely get a response. The only one I have continuosly heard back from is Al Mothershed. He is our Western VP and believe me we elected the right person. I don't always agree with Al, but he will at least explain his position and I can respect that. Whatever is good for the membership is good with me, however when the membership gets screwed, I take it personnally.I was once a young Co and got screwed over by the older(time)COs so they could better themselves as they were retireing soon. I vowed that I would do anything I could to not let it happen to my brother officers again. Whats good for one group of Officers is good for all of us. We are all grade 14 COS so we should all be paid accordingly, plus your longevity.
Had to rant after reading the web page. sorry!

Retirements

Lt. Wynkoop and Sgt. Higley are retireing this week. Wish them both well. We should be getting Jack Snyder as Lt, and Tornabene as a Sgt.. Snyder is another Adamczak. By the book, but he has mellowed a bit while at Gowanda. Tornabene is currently at Orleans. Seems like a real co's Sgt.
Have you all heard that the State will not negotiate a new contract for 2007, because we have not ratified the contract from 2003-2007. We were always told that this was an arbitrated decision, when in fact it was a contarct that was signed off on by the arbitration panel. how does Flimflanigan save face now and send the contract to the membership for ratification? I think we will be without a contract for a long time.
E-Mail NYSCOPBA and demand the right to vote!!
